Position Description and Requirements
Performs engineering work in support of operational goals of reducing cost and improving throughput and quality in the production of pulp and paper products. Work may include process design, process optimization, process modeling, chemical system improvements, new product development, safety and environmental compliance, development and implementation of improvement initiatives or other work related to process improvement.
This role typically reports to the Manager – Mill Engineering or Manager – Process Engineering.
Supervision is readily available but work execution is self directed. Specific projects and tasks are outlined by supervisor and checked for completion. For typical decisions made in this role, information is analyzed and interpreted. Projects may require working independently or as part of a team.
CONTACTS
Continually advises or interprets information for directors, managers, superintendents as well as interaction with manufacturing and production personnel. Occasionally advises or interprets information for equipment manufacturers and other suppliers.
Requires intrapersonal skills such as advising, counseling, exchanging information via various methods such as participating in meetings or group discussions and conducting meetings or leading group discussions to share process recommendations; and composing written communications such as technical writing.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
• A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp or Paper Science, Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
• A minimum core curriculum GPA of 2.8
• Some travel required
